Nuclear agreement, Trust Vote and Indian Youth

July 27, 2008 by mywordsyourvoice

I am writing this with extreme hope that coming hours will result as success of PM laid trust vote in parliament. Sorry to say, I am neither pro to UPA, NDA or UNPA. I strongly stand to government in this trust vote in support of nuclear deal. We say even God does not know what goes in girls mind, here even God, girls and poor fellow “me” can not dare to make any guess here. Who says politics is boring, if you have browsed to our esteemed news channel I bet the drama screenplay has been thrilling more than Hitchcock tales. The betting money, thanks to bookies is more than IPL final of Rajasthan royals and Chennai super kings. Since the market is down and crude cooling off, speculators have got the chance to make some money. Clearly the future of NUclear is UNclear. Politics is a serious business but ours is funnier than combined efforts of Laughter Challenge I-V (I can smell # V in pipeline). Jokes apart the pain of pity and shame has made me insane. The burden of memories of my beloved passion of insight politics from post Rajiv Gandhi assassination to Dr. Manmohan Singh government has made me numb. Still being biologically alive heavy heart beats often presume as of its nature that we can work around for better tomorrow.

Democracy is a wonderful way of governance. Respected management gurus thou the essence of democracy is on practice with customer comes first policy but still the proper implementation will open head room for next level of management. As end customer drives today’s business and shaping things out so is the case with democracy. No matter how much we bash to our political system but the naked hard fact is its mirror image of our thoughts, work culture and persona in complete society in bigger spectrum. Friends, remember our outcry and protest on recent reservation issue. Youth for equality and other students group cropped up to defy reservation policy. Being an active member of that historic protest where common people and not the hired mob makers tried to express thoughts in line. That was once of the true face of democracy. Thou the bill passed thru the constitutional process and I due understand who were the supporting masses and vote bank constraints of the political outfits.(Lets refrain from term ‘party’ and use outfits– as there is not party/team like characters) Still I felt this could be a renaissance of our 60 years of democratic heritage. Unfortunately today on this critical debate we have no opinion of educated class (I don’t have the definition of educated class in political view – How many of us know our vice president!! Still I believe most of us knows our favourite IPL or EPL team vice-captain and manager) and students. Anyway who cares for education to get right to vote or reproduce? Students are busy in securing seats from 12th to medicine/engineering and those who graduated or on the headway to IIM and civil services. The other segment is waiting for abroad academic session commencement or our piece of IT pay check – result of eco-political reforms. So our educated youth has no time to mark the presence not even as online petition, signature campaign or voting to public opinion polls. Hey! But we never miss our effort to support Harbhajan in Australia. So lets thanks to gentlemen and women (seeks 33% reservation in parliament) in khadi and hindustan motors cars to handle the responsibility to run government and make our life heavenly beautiful.

Excuse the common man on street who is struggling to manager his wallet with inflation at peek. This is an interesting and non-understood aspect of globalization. So if Uncle Sam fails to pay his EMI that in 12 hours different time zone, Chacha Swami will face the heat with higher EMI. The educated youth has taken feeble interest on nuclear deal. I do understand time is limited and cut throat competition drills last bit of us. Whatever the little time we could manage is reserved for night show of ‘Jane tu na jane na’ with new chauffer (some say them as boy friend) and some legendary visionary personality’s ‘3 mistakes of my life’. Being smart and coloured in professionalism we ask to us, how this deal will change my life, answer looks no – then why to worry, just chill. With all of your kind permission allow me to hit keystrokes about the deal. Let’s not invite beloved and respected outfits here to spoil the party.

Our media name and project it as Indo – US nuclear deal which is incorrect. There is no deal in between US and India itself. This is a deal between India and NSG (Nuclear supplier Group – includes countries like US, Russia, Australia, France etc). The deal is for civil nuclear programme – mainly for importing Uranium to run our breeder reactors. One more thing you would have heard is about 123 Act and Hyde Act. These are the acts under US law pertaining to nuclear resource cooperation to other countries. Since for us the deal is not just with America but with NSG members the applicable rules are tailored for us with India specific agreement. IAEA is at verge of passing it in favour of us with voting majority of its members. The textual detail is available on Ministry of external affairs website. Not going to technicalities of it, this deal will ensure uninterrupted supply of Uranium for our civil uses – electricity without questioning our sovereignty and military exercise. Our prospective uranium supplier would be France and Australia. Also India is not becoming any ally of US but a partner. All learned and people in chairs of bureaucracy and nuclear heads are in support of the deal.

What we get with this deal?

Uninterrupted guaranteed supply of nuclear fuel which will be used in electricity generation.
Better presence and acceptability in world arena will independent identity.
A leap step to self sustain of energy needs.
Push us to permanent place in UN
Nuclear energy generated is using fission and can be prolonged in different cycles.
Uranium will serve as the first level of fission. Its by-product can be used for Thorium and Plutonium fission.
We have abundant Thorium and Plutonium for second and third generation of nuclear fission.

What would happen if we loose the deal?

The energy crisis will be continued to long time as non-renewable plants are not compliment to nuclear deal motion.
This will send poor signal to world fraternity of our credibility.
Since the discussion on Green House Gas emission has carried on with seriousness, west will try to use carbon credit story for the pulling India’s leg
This need to be overcome with renewable and clean energy
With recent world politics has put Iran in pressure and military activities. Signals from Pak are also disappointing. This may be indication that Iran-Pakistan-India Gas pipeline is virtually dead.
· The crude prices are assumed to soar high and we need to avoid dependence.
Renegotiation will lead to poor or no deal.
Loss in international relations and reputation to brand India.
Internally India democracy will be suffered and next parliament is expected to be hung assembly with no clear majority.

The above is brief snapshot of Indo Civil nuclear deal. Buddies if you find flaws in deal bring it for open discussion. The go ahead signal from top scientist and policy makers suggest that whatever the best can be done is taken care of. The win or loss of trust vote can only provide or deny 2 month of government life. Let’s show our faith in our Prime Minister and strengthen him. Many of us are huge Hollywood fans, if one observes they show great respect and heroic aspect of President. We also need to look to our PM has true and capable personality. Lets be the change rather expecting the change. We all know action speaks louder than words.

Wanna kiss you tonight

June 9, 2008 by mywordsyourvoice

I do never care for others, no emotions at all for success and failure. Only time my eyes get wet is when I jab my bike above centum with no eye gears. But this time it was different. She is special !!!

This is a long saga with very special feelings attached. She seduces so extreme that I even put my dignity on stake for her. It was never the same few years ago but time – the cruel joke, easily debonair or defy one. No idea whether I am victimised or awaiting for gift for patience. We first dated (her version is confrontation) two years back in early winters and I can always feel the warmth of that precious moment. She is the future – my roadways to success, key to happiness and untold desire. Even today, whenever I commemorate about her, gets blissed with ecstasy. In the scary world, alas a lot like me is chasing her but she is defined. Adding her with my name will escalate me by leaps and bounds among my peers. It would bring special privileges and rank.

Last year at this same very moment the romance was at the climax, keeping me well prepared to kiss her with authority. Only I know the efforts and prayers pledged for her, it looks silly but love put even beast in dancing shoes – I am a small fish, so its Ok for me, please support me for it. The D-day was a total disaster – turning my hopes and feeling to debris. Folks, for the first time I understood why tragedy king – Dilip Kumar and SRK get so much support with our tears and sobs. Why me??? How can this happen to me?? I never ever offeneded anyone. She just evaporated with sunshine right in front of me landing to my tiny eyes making it wet and rolled down to my coarse cheeks. Poor piece of muscle under bosom is in full act that can even put our star bowler Shresanth.

The only place where I could console myself is streetside Bewafa Bar. I can gurantee you, the peace one get here provide the courage to doom so called embodiment of divine powers. In this long duration I haven’t just lost her but the also some pretty lucrative beauties hanging around. Oh! how could you deny so fasinating instant relations knocking at your doorsteps. The bar is real truth of life and rest are myth. Hey! its not my philosophy but got inspired from Big B’s Biggy ( Harivanshrai Bachhan – Madhushala). The first nip with bottom up of cocktail unscrew the mystery. Are you here for orange juice or cola… no never..Oh! my love of life is different and special. Blushed with her thoughts, I pledged to dare to kiss the diva again. Even the essence of Gita is to have patience and follow your deeds without thinking much of result.

I followed holy Gita, the year is over bringing up the D-day. I can sense warmth of her breadth, fragrance of her body…I am speechless, numb and insane. Addie.. come on.. you are Mr. Right..lady in red will kiss you..you will dine with valentine. The night is approaching…making me restless and sleepless. Do you know who is she.. She is USCIS H1B Visa, so scarce with numerous hoppers around to steal from me. This week is longer than century… I am waiting for authority to kiss her. The fire of passion will bring down the hurdles… Pray for me.

Jaipur serial blast – News and experience

June 9, 2008 by mywordsyourvoice

Recent Jaipur bomb blast- another work of cowardice has hit the news. I remember the serial blast in Mumbai local trains. Since a major Pune folks belong to Mumbai, it was more of the experience rather than piece of news. On those days, I was working in staggered team and whole team was in shock, cravinvg to hear “Hello!” to loved and dear ones. That experience was really horrifying.

Jaipur blast in Infy Pune was a mere news. I was struggling to complete code for last minute changes and aiming for 9 PM bus and probably the floor. The unfortunate event happened in evening and no news and forwards on this. Folks were rather keen to IPL match than this news.

This is real strength of diverse India. One cannot put India on standstill by natural calamity, terrorist activity or any other insane events. We are highly diverse in culture, priority, values which provide a natural cushion to us. Do remember the Madrid, London-underground blasts, you will get the difference.

Also a quick comment to IPL, thou I am not a fan of any team and feel confused to select one among Sachin, Dhoni and Kumble. So I make a diplomatic choice to support good game. Rajasthan royal performance and Warne captaincy impressed me. The reaction of foreign players over security shows high degree of professionalism but reminds me the difference between India and foreign players for love and loyalty to team.

Reservation & Education : The inner story

March 6, 2008 by mywordsyourvoice

Ghosts of Mandal commission revisits India in different names. The past is known to all of us. We all know the two brave son of nation set them on fire for the protest of it.

The GOI is set to make the law for the 49.5%(15%SC, 7.5%ST, 27%OBC) of reservation policy in education sector to all the levels. This also is the beginning of reservation in jobs in both public and private sector. There was some fee hike in IIMs and a lot of discussion was made on it. My this post will be a try to the inner angle of the story with different prospects.

Angle 1:The onle angle of the whole issue is to make social welfare engineering. In fact if there is a homogeneous representation of every class then there will be same representaion as per the reservation wagon wheel. The unprivileged has been denied of basic facility and discriminated for long times. Even in case of IIMs fee hike the poor and common student of the nation can not afford to pay the lacs fee of IIMs. So there should not be so high fee in these reputed institues.

Angle2 : The talent of the so called upper class students and people will go in vain. It leads to detoriation of talent pool and quality. Reservation if granted should be on the basis of the economical status. The flunked candiadates from the upper class feels frustrated and cheated. In IIMs fee hike the fee hike is geninune as it is required to keep the quality of the education. The fee is nothing to the handsome salary the IIM alumuni gets.

If both angles are studied without the pre concieved notions the all looks geniune on there parts.

My Angle: The money used in imparting education in IIM and IIT are much higher than the fee taken by the students. This infrastructure has been built by the money of the nation. This nation money has been the contribution or tax collection from the pooorest to the richest of the country. This leads to a moral boundage to these students. The private firms and company makes one to sign the bond to serve for certain tennure for money spend on the training. Should government takes steps to make use of these talents in there fields with legal bondings to work for in lieu of the well seduced education. I think the goverment has to be professional and strict on these issue. If students opt for MNC then the nation is in great loss and the whole sole of the money is wasted. There should be nothing free in this world. Already the scientific, defense science and manegerial skills are making us to lag behind the others. I think IITians and IIMians has to serve the nation than the MNC just for the sake of money. On the other hand I do not believe in the concept of reservation at all. Even if one select for the economic status for the reservation issues a new problem of dividing line and corruption. There is a just a need to provide equal oppourtunities by providing free and equal and mandatory education till 12. The equal and mandatory education will lead to development of vision among the students to look from open minded approah for the benifit of all and the nation. The students are the ultimate power for the nation and has to be guided to a correct path. Remember the freedom struggle, JP Movement, China’s democaratic demand by students it shows the importance of us students and youth. In recent times the youth of France has compelled the French govt to take back anti-youth acts.

There is a need of coherence in thoughts among different masses of youth. The clashes and differences in thoughts is because of the different backgrounds and short term goals. The question of who is right and who is wrong cannot be answered in comprehensive manner. There is a need of talented work force in govt programmes and organization. Who will keep the flags of Nuclear development, Satellite programme, Green revolution etc. The MNC are here for the cost cutting and the dolar turn to 45-46 times in India. This is the reason why we are getting the huge amount in MNC and IT world. If we start with allegation both the sides will be found dirty. Lets do not run away from the problem and the RAVANA of our mind. If an electrical engineer from IIT opts for the IT markety the country looses one skilled and potential resource for power management of the country. The electrical grid system in the nation is the unique and the best of its kind. I do not blame much on the commom students as they have limited oppourtunities and choices. “The more powerful you are the more responsible you should be.”.

The message is simple if you want to serve the nation the nation should serve you with priveliges otherwise be ready to pay as per the market and business rules.

Cricket in Australia

March 5, 2008 by mywordsyourvoice

Indian cricket tour to Australia is historical not just for flamboyant Indian cricket fans but more to cricketing world. The tour with a pile of controversy and performance has lead to an excellent show all together. Controversies stretched so far leading to divide world cricket fraternity, all chanting and prosecuting each other. Lead by BCCI and Cricket Australia extended legs to mouth of ICC, cricketing fraternity witness the undercover issues of racialism, abuse, tethering ethics on ground, money power in limelight. Border-Gavaskar trophy and CB tri-series has turned up as interesting data points for rapid change in cricket and its future.

Australian rule of decade is challenged and that too in their courtyards. Oz are in trap of their own strategy of mental and psychological games. Kudos to young India team for this fantastic effort. For the world its time to see a new team at numero uno position, it may be toppling point for Aussies. West Indies have faced this trivia before and it the process was so slow that even the world is amazed when the masters lost defy after loosing from India in 1983 world cup. Aussies are on line of fire both from domestic and international media, critics and pundits for their unethical and crying baby attitude. One cannot have a pinhole size doubt on talent and wonderful temperament of Aussie but the attitude is in question. Punter all the foul play has resulted in a great loss to prestige and regard for invincible team.

For India it resulted in win-win situation, first Kumble shown the figure of gratitude and patience. I remember Anil Kumble one liner, “Only one team was playing in the spirits of game. This much is I have to say.” After Harbhajan and Symonds controversy, the team handled the situation brilliantly and decided to continue the tour. This was the time when the whole country and the whispering world were with India. Indians can proudly say if it was all fair the test series was 1-1 draw without any bone of contention. Later on in one day series also, Dhoni and company proofed that Twenty20 was not a fluke at all. This team is ready to charge anyone in instant cricket mode. India was lucky to have young captain who provides ample space to youngsters to grow. The decision to lay off Dravid and Ganguly was finally resulted as a judicious one. Sachin performance was icing on the cake. It is rightly said if Cricket is religion in India then Sachin is God. This man is not great with ton of records only. He has surpassed the records mania a long ago. We are privilege to watch a living legend of centuries not just as a player but more as a modest and great person indeed. It is really tough to be Sachin, as been last legacy of previous generation is shorter form of game facing the lashes from pundits and challenging young blood. It is ironical that a lot of Sachin co-cricket colleagues time to time raises finger to his ability. This man is role model for every kid and young blood not just to cricket but to every walk of life. I acknowledge that Sachin century in finals has come after 10 years. He was not part of any world cup trophy but the clean and consistent track record can never be overlooked.

Austrialain Prime Minister rightly quoted “Tendulkar is a fine example of the human spirit of excellence and determination. His humility and modesty are the qualities that make him stand apart, more than his records. He is the kind of rolemodel that you would want your kids to look up to.He also congratulated the youngsters in the team for a valiant performance.”

This series has supported the hope of golden future of cricket – the only sports we can align to. Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Praveen Kumar are now not just the hope but proven talents with credentials. Lets see how it all pan out and over all if not cricket then what next for the sports appetite for viewers.

Indian Railways : New face of social economics

February 27, 2008 by mywordsyourvoice

Indian railways is distinct for India and its socio-economic culture. Railways is one of the greatest legacy boon from British to free India. The concept of united India with diversity is at heart of railways, connecting various regions at highly affordable price. It is among the largest employer in world with about 15 lakh (1.5 million) workforce. When I remind of railways a decade back with rubble station, stinky trains with no appreciable amenities to passengers to transforming new face of railways, it makes me feel proud as Indian.

Thanks to Mr Lalu Yadav, Railway minister for taking bold decisions, support and initiatives for top bureaucrats in his office. The financial and balance sheet will put even world largest corporates at muse. The loss making railways is in huge profit with hygienic balance sheet that too in last 5 years. At present it has cash surplus of 6 Bn USD, growth is double digits both for passengers and freight. Railways are beating markets analysts and improving targets and operating margins. I am not a financial rat and believe more in feeling and responses around.

This is a biggest turnaround for Indian government business in last 60 years and the best part is every body is happy. Its one of the rarest example. Ask passengers, employees, politicians and industrialists all praising collectively. The already low fares are reducing every year, amenities and technical improvement on course. What has happen.. this is not the economics we know here. In the era of privatization, where government is labeled as worst business sense is smiling to world in its unique way. All this is new chapter for Nehru era of economics which advocates of business with socialist face. Railways shows amicable face for hope to poor Indians. M Damodaran took the credit of driving the turnaround in UTI and Arvind Pande for the turnaround in SAIL, so we should bravely pass the credit to Lalu and team. This is case study whole world should learn to. The path paved also caters long term goals and vision. Small good ideas can lead to flash turnarounds without marching blindly to clumsy terms like TQM, Six Sigma, Consultations and JIT.

You don’t need to have Harvard MBA degree to run business – Late Ambani and Lalu proved it. It is awesome charisma of Lalu succeeding to allow Public Private partnership (PPP) leading to value unlocking. No labor union conflicts erupted which is common pain points for all PSU and government business bodies. The good thing is employees was never crusaded in name of growth and revision. Md Younis – banker of poor Bangladesh, O P Bhat from State Bank of India are some present example for growth in own terms without clutches of western theory.

It is important for us to decide and review the model of growth for India. We cannot copy the western methods directly if we have to seek growth for both “Bharat” and “India” – distancing brothers. Lessons are budding to young Indians, entrepreneurs and policy makers for further endeavors and tasks. PPP looks to be key for growth. The results make look slow but will be stable. Its better to bank on Sachin batting style than to Shewag. Recent holocaust is share market shows the ugly face of pseudo growth story.

Plight and Flight of Hindi

February 18, 2008 by mywordsyourvoice

Hindi is national language of India. Hindi speakers are second highest in counts. There is billion dollar print, electronic and entertainment(both small and big screen) industry with hindi base. These facts and figure leads to feel, Hindi is flourishing as its best. Hindi words are getting added to Oxford dictionary every year. Profit for Hindi is on flight to moon.

Bollywood and television used this language of mass India to catch balls to homes of most rich to poor Indians. Undoubtedly it has been a silent but effective national unity builder just as Indian Railways. Media in both form – electronic and print has Hindi on top priority. Business Standard is starting perhaps first business daily in Hindi. Sony and WB Bross are investing in bollywood. I remember the flop show of government of Hindi week in schools and government institutions. Undoubtedly hinglish has got huge popularity among masses from all corners. This is a small snapshot of Hindi flight in liberalized and global world.

There is ugly side of Hindi saying its plight loud. Just look at the Hindi news channel, undoubtedly its a cash cow but does it milch to viewers or rotten masala. Except NDTV India none of news channel say India TV, Star News, Aaj Tak, IBN 7 and Zee News has any quality program on menu. Similarly Hindi print media which was torch bearer for common man in freedom struggle, emergency has transformed to cheap tabloid and outdated junk. Hindi literature and its patron are becoming distinct day by day. Can we name 5 authors and good books of modern Hindi literature? If the question is asked for English even school kids have some favorites on radar. Even its tough to find Hindi literature in book shop just walk to nearest crosswords and try your luck. Probably book fair are only place to find these near to extinction work of art. The irony is, this literature is praised when translated to English and even international publishers are promoting it. Sher-o- shayari is still famous in youth thanks to sms boom, entertainment industry. Why reading core Hindi is seen with subduded thoughts? Hindi movies, media loves to talk and express in English. The question is, do core Hindi literature, journalism, authors lost potential to reach masses or not willing to do so. What is hindering and obstructing to reach to largest potential readers base?

Please some one do not blame west influence and degrading values for this plight of Hindi. I strongly feel that authors are rigid to their literature work and not willing to write down closer to common public and vested interests. It was “khadi boli” and not Hindi the most popular choice of people. In fact Hindi is supported by various dialects throughout the country and so fails to reach masses in its pure form. Even if we look to history the most public famous work was around social life of common public, poetry and prose with smell of freedom struggle as it relates directly to heart of public. Economics of demand and supply is apt here, authors and publishers promote market oriented literature and that to various class of prospective Hindi readers.

Why cheap news channels(they should not be called news channel, drama channel looks better), hapless novels sold on railway platforms are getting market? The intellectuals of Hindi mass gradually shifted to English as preferred mode for news, opinions and literature for hunger of thought and mind. Hindi has a great future and profitable prospect in future. If we succeed to add values and flavor of quality to it, we will have few feathers in cap to be proud of Hindi and culture. I am sure that promotion, patrons and capitalist will go ahead for it.

Mumbai, marathi, migrants and malign

February 11, 2008 by mywordsyourvoice

Few days back on the streets of Mumbai(preferably called Bombay) nude politics take on charge spreading fear among to “Bhaiyas”(lovingly or derogatory word – depends upon your prospective). Lost politicians both from Samajwadi party and Maharastra Navnirman Sena, play the foul game to gain grounds. Beating the drums on lines of “divide and rule” is the key to success in political parties in India and the same was followed here. Indian democracy is disappointing the intellect of country with a mere of sustained democracy compared our neighboring nations.

The nation has a long tale of regional conflicts in its history and so is mumbai. In 1960 mumbai witnessed the salvage of anti-Gujarati and south Indians. Karnataka and Tamilnadu witness the tension on Cauvery water conflict and Kannada actor Dr. Rajkumar kidnapping by Veerapan. There is no count of incidents based on caste and religion in this country. Politicans need to be praised for their new vote bank game trump card of regionalism to revive the loosing grounds. Unfortunately they are gaining with it at different chunks and notions.

The question is not, “Do common mumbaikars, marathi, migrants care of this malign?”. The questions is to what this regional poison has done the damage and will continue to. Politics affect the poor public and folks are mind washed in cash of sentiments and emotions. No learned will deny the basic problem of growth, infrastructure and opportunities on both the sides for this problem. It is inevitable to resolve the problems singularly. Why we country of 1 billion often thinks like of 1 million? Every one needs to go for retrospection and remove the clogs from their mind. Mumabi is for nation and every one has the full rights to contribute and celebrate land of opportunities. In fact we all from different parts of world has made Mumbai to true cosmopolitan, entertainment, financial and India Inc. capital. Maharashtra has gained and now called the best bigger state in India with contributions to new comers.

“Hum hi hum ho to kya hum hai, tum hi tum ho to kya tum ho,
jab miljaye to karvan bane, manjile kareeb, khusiya sang ho”

If we look around the world the most developed nations, places, civilization, religion and cultures have a common trait of openness and adapting to new world. It is really disappointing to treat people coming to different corners of nation as if they are from Bangladesh, Srilanka or Pakistan. If our leaders has moral, please resolve illegal migrants from neighboring countries. Folks coming to Mumbai from backward states need to ask questions for their plight from their so called brotherly leaders. Mumbaikars or resident of India need to make knot in mind that they are citizens of India and everyone has same rights here. Any one tying to sabotage harmony should be treated with stringent laws at par to dreaded terrorists.

Big brothers, Congress and BJP this is time to show up the maturity of national party and lay off this malign game. If this is not tackled with sincerity, then the seeds for virtual divisions are sowed.
